ReShrink first started as a small project by Yilin in Clean Ocean Action’s Student Environmental Advocates and Leaders (SEAL) program. Through SEAL and other environmental organizations across NJ, she worked with other students and community members on beach sweeps and environmental policy tabling. While in the program, she realized the lack of environmental education programs and awareness of recycling policies in her hometown. Seeing an opportunity to combine her love of art with environmental advocacy, she founded ReShrink to offer her community educational presentations and sustainable workshops.
Since starting ReShrink, our program has worked with various schools, programs, and organizations, providing educational and sustainable workshops to over 200 students in the last two years.
We are constantly expanding, developing new workshops, and reaching out to schools to provide them with free educational opportunities.
Our mission is to provide students of all ages, specializing in K-12 classrooms, with free sustainability workshops!
Through ReShrink, it is our mission to foster students' creativity and educate them about environmental issues. The sustainable craft workshops allow students not only to learn about the issues impacting them and their communities, but also to stay engaged by expressing their interests and hobbies.
Our goal is to continue making sustainable workshops free to all students to learn about their local environments and policies.
Through the workshops, we hope to provide sustainability education to students around the state. Next year, we hope to offer free online templates and lesson plans for teachers to use in their classrooms, enabling them to deliver sustainable education to their students.
